Произношение и идентичность: вокалические и консонантные тенденции в северных диалектах Англии

Аннотация

В статье приводятся результаты комплексного фонетического эксперимента, включающего слуховой и акустический виды анализа неподготовленной речи жителей северных городов Англии (Манчестера, Ливерпуля, Лидса и Ньюкасла). Целью исследования является установление маркеров региональной и социальной идентичности информантов на сегментном уровне языковой системы. Научная новизна работы заключается в том, что произношение рассматривается как средство сознательной лингвистической самоидентификации и как предмет особой гордости носителей за их происхождение и социокультурные ориентиры. Полученные данные позволяют утверждать, что север Англии представляет собой обособленное диалектное единство, противопоставленное как британскому стандарту Received Pronunciation, так и другим региональным типам произношения. При этом установленные наддиалектные вокалические особенности являются признаками региональной идентичности жителей севера Англии, в то время как консонантные черты в их речи выступают маркерами социальной идентичности, косвенно указывая на социально-экономический статус говорящего в обществе.
