LITERARY ANTI-UTOPIA ORIGIN: JACK LONDON

Abstract

The author considers the correlation of utopian and anti-utopian motives in Jack London's world-view. They believe that the American writer not indifferent to social-utopian prognostics modeled artistic socialist society as utopia realization ideal in future. In this article it is stated that anti-utopian, critical moods are also characteristic of Jack London. With this purpose the author analyzes his little-known novel The Scarlet Plague and suggests a new point of view on his classic work - the novel The Iron Heel.
