METAPHTONYMY IN SPHERE OF EMOTIONS CONCEPTUALIZATION IN THE MODERN ENGLISH LANGUAGE

Abstract

The article analyzes the action of mataphtonymy projection mechanism in emotions conceptualization in the modern English-language culture. The research object is the descriptions of emotional states, which use somatic vocabulary for denoting mental processes. The article shows the role of metonymy in the incorporation of corporal dynamics in the process of the comprehension of emotions, and demonstrates the function of metaphor in conveying the qualitative characteristics of an emotional state.
