LANGUAGE STANDARD LIMITS AND CAPACITIES: HISTORICAL-CULTURAL ASPECT

Abstract

Some stages of language standard development from the point of view of its connections with the man’s generalizing capability are considered in the article. Standard is presented as a generalization form, and proper speech ability – as a communication ordering instrument. In standardization history two contradictory orientations can be singled out: at “language ideal” – and with such accent standard is able to worsen class conflicts; and at live speech practice typicalness that, on the contrary, promotes these conflicts smoothing. Today idealizing and typifying capabilities are standard social functions.
