THE REALIZATION OF STATUS-ORIENTED SPEECH COMMUNICATION IN THE ENGLISH-LANGUAGE PENITENTIARY DISCOURSE

Abstract

In the article the penitentiary discourse is considered in terms of status-oriented speech communication and as a kind of institutional discourse. The analysis is performed in accordance with such structural components of any discourse as the process of communication, context and text. As the result of the research the author identifies the status-role characteristics of the participants in the communication, their communicative purposes and describes the prototypical place of communication - prison - as psychological and physical context which determines in many ways the peculiarities of the proceeding communication in it.
