DERIVATIVE PREPOSITION В ОТЛИЧИЕ ОТ (AS OPPOSED TO) IN THE FICTION OF THE XIX-XXI CENTURIES

Abstract

The article examines the dynamics and semantics of the prepositional case form with the derivative preposition в отличие от (as opposed to) in the literary works of the Russian writers of the XIX-XXI centuries. The paper aims to show that the derivative prepositions formed in the scientific, publicistic and other bookish styles, gradually, though with delay, penetrate into the fiction. The author discovers the growth of the analyzed prepositional case form in the literary works of the XX-XXI centuries and the growth in the diversity of features according to which the writers distinguish the humans from each other, and later on - from inanimate objects.
