“WRITING FROM THE BODY” AS THE PHENOMENON OF CONTEMPORARY ANGLOPHONE CULTURE

Abstract

The paper deals with the phenomenon of “Writing from the Body” in the framework of contemporary Anglophone culture. “Writing from the Body” is examined, primarily, as a general principle of creative writing, consisting in the use of sensory and motor potential of the body both at the stage of formulating the idea of the text and at the stage of its verbal presentation. The author identifies the sources of “Writing from the Body” as the phenomenon, analyzes the main lines of “bodily narrative” and those techniques, by which it is realized in practice, and reveals the types of bodily experience which are most relevant for creative writing.
