LEO TOLSTOY’S COMEDY “THE FRUITS OF ENLIGHTENMENT”: HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL CONTEXT, GENRE AND LINGUOSTYLISTIC PECULIARITIES

Abstract

In the article the genre and linguostylistic peculiarities of Leo Tolstoy’s comedy “The Fruits of Enlightenment” are analyzed. The history of creation, artistic method, nature of the dramatic conflict, the problems and speech characteristics of the characters of the play are considered. The author’s definition of its genre as a comedy is specified: it is proved that the play “The Fruits of Enlightenment” has features of such genre forms of comedy as satiric comedy, realistic comedy, comedy of characters and comedy of intrigue.
