THE LEXEME “ЙӘН” IN THE TEXTS OF THE BASHKIR FOLK SONGS

Abstract

The article analyzes the meanings of the word “йән”, which are found in the texts of folk songs. Composite personal names with the component “йән” are examined more thoroughly. The semantic meaning and the period of entry into the Bashkir language of these names are revealed. As a result of the research it is ascertained that the lexeme “йән” corresponds to the notions “life”, “a man”, “an inner life of a man”, “bosom-friend”, “beloved”, “my darling”, and also it occurs in the structure of personal names and oronyms.
