SEMANTIC FIELD OF THE CONCEPT “AUTHORITARIAN DEMOCRACY” THROUGH THE PRISM OF AMERICAN POLITICAL DISCOURSE

Abstract

The article examines the evolution of the concept “democracy” which is not only an integral element of American culture but also a key point of political speeches. Political discourse the studies of which become more relevant under the current global geopolitical situation is subjected to linguo-stylistic analysis with a view to develop the semantic field of the renewed concept “authoritarian democracy” discovering its typical features through the studies of the USA President Barack Obama’s speech delivered at the UNO’s jubilee session in autumn, 2015.
