ON NATIONAL SINGULARITY OF THE INITIAL FORMULAE OF THE BRITISH ISLES TALES

Abstract

The article analyzes the national singularity and specificity of the initial formulae of the tales of the British Isles. The author concludes that the initial formulae are rich in stylistic figures typical of poetry (antitheses, parallelism, and means of verbal instrumentation) as they are intended to charm the reader, take him into a magical world. The most typical of the initial formulae of fairy tales are such tropes as metaphor, epithet, simile, lexical repetition and hyperbola.
