LANGUAGE PLAY AS A MEANS OF CREATING EXPRESSION IN HEADLINES OF BRITISH MEDIA TEXTS

Abstract

The article presents expression as a peculiar feature of British media text headline style that is rendered by means of language play, involving resources of phonetic, graphic, word-building, and lexical-semantic levels of a language as well as precedent phenomena. The reasoning is supplied with illustrative examples collected from the publications of The Guardian online edition (2015-2017).
