THE COGNITIVE MECHANISM OF CRISIS IMAGE FORMATION IN THE ENGLISH MEDIA TEXTS (BY THE MATERIAL OF “THE ECONOMIST” MAGAZINE)

Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of the cognitive mechanism of crisis image formation in the economic media texts. These are two metaphors that are key for creating a certain concept of the recession: the crisis is a natural phenomenon and the crisis is illness . As a result of the research, it is ascertained that the deep metaphor FAILURE IS DANGER underlies both metaphors. Failure is embodied in the form of a natural phenomenon (cataclysm) or a separate physical (or mental) disease.
