N. M. KARAMZIN’S “POOR LIZA” AND L. N. TOLSTOY’S “ANNA KARENINA”: THE SPECIFICITY OF THE ARTISITC DIALOGUE

Abstract

The article deals with the peculiarities of the artistic interrelations of N. M. Karamzin and L. N. Tolstoy. During the comparative analysis of the works “Poor Liza” and “Anna Karenina”, common features in the creation of the sensual worldview of heroines, their love feelings and attitudes toward their relatives are revealed. The authors of the article come to the conclusion that L. N. Tolstoy is one of the few classic writers who created the heroine, the idea of the image of which has something in common with the idea of Karamzin’s “poor” Liza. This allows talking about “Anna Karenina” as a kind of reminiscence on the story of N. M. Karamzin.
