THE NATIONAL PECULIARITY OF THE BASES OF FIXED COMPARISONS USED TO DESCRIBE PERSON’S APPEARANCE (BY THE MATERIAL OF THE FRENCH AND RUSSIAN LANGUAGES)

Abstract

The article conducts a comparative analysis of the bases of fixed comparisons characterizing the appearance of a person on the basis of the French and Russian languages. The semantic group “Person’s appearance” includes comparisons describing the natural external features of a person, as well as units that represent the general impression of appearance. The topicality of the article is conditioned by the fact that fixed comparisons are present in any national language, and their national specificity is manifested in difference of the bases of comparisons chosen in this or that culture.
