MOTIVE OF DANCE IN IVAN ALEKSEYEVICH BUNIN’S PROSE

Abstract

The article is devoted to one of the aspects of I. A. Bunin’s literary creativity - the motive of dance. His interpretation is considered by the material of the stories “The Barefoot Dancer”, “The Gentleman from San Francisco”, “The Teacher”. The analysis of literary images associated with this narrative unit makes it possible to define the artistic functions of dance motives in the prose by I. A. Bunin, for whom the dance is a professional, dead art, devoid of vitality, associated with the theme of the game. Such understanding of this motive is continuation of the tradition typical of the classical literature of the XIX century.
