LEGAL LINGUISTICS IN THE CONTEXT OF TEACHING PROFESSIONAL ENGLISH TO LAWYERS

Abstract

The article examines linguistic tendencies and modern approaches to teaching future lawyers professional English intended to overcome cultural barriers in professional communication and to raise the level of professional foreign language competence of law higher school graduates. The paper provides a list of recently available foreign recourses relevant when teaching juridical English. Two problems are tackled: the tendency to use Plain English instead of legalese in foreign jurisprudence and the use of the learner-centred approach in foreign language teaching.
