The Main Problematics of Celtic Studies in Modern British Linguistics

Abstract

The aim of this work is to characterize the main problems of modern scientific research in celtology in the UK. The scientific originality of the article lies in a comprehensive analysis of the methodology of scientific works and the results obtained by the modern British linguists dealing with the Celtic linguistic problems. As a result, it is proved that Celtic studies at the present stage remain significant for science: they are devoted to the problems of field research, grammar, etymology, and have a great potential for further research among foreign and domestic philologists. In the conclusion of the article, the prospects for subsequent scientific research are outlined.
