Abstract

The rationale of the peer-reviewed textbook “Business Communication in Action”, intended for teaching English for specific purposes to non-linguistic second-year students, is determined by the focus on the formation of their transferrable skills. The layout of the textbook, the quality of the material, the teaching techniques proposed by the authors correspond to the main requirements for textbooks, namely: consistency, clarity, suitability for students’ needs, availability of progress revision activities, case studies, self-study tasks, as well as compliance with modern trends in teaching English for specific purposes and approaches for enhancing students’ engagement. The advantages of the textbook include the rationale of the texts, their educational potential; a variety of exercise types; approaches to organising a more productive learning environment with self and peer assessment; a wide range of illustrations that enhance comprehension; a cross-cultural component; content adaptability; use of the textbook in a modular format.
