TRANSLATION OF W. AINSWORTH'S NOVEL THE OLD COURT AS NEW STAGE OF ENGLISH SOCIAL-CRIMINAL NOVEL PERCEPTION IN RUSSIA

Abstract

The authors present the analysis of the translation of W. Ainsworth's novel The Old Court, which allows speaking about it as a new stage in English social-criminal novel perception in Russia, and tell that the development of social-criminal novel genre on the Russian ground formed the demand for such translations in the second half of the XIXth century, which contributed to the formation of the new concept and aesthetics of this genre in Russian literature.
