REFLECTION OF NATIONAL CUSTOM “FEUD” IN NOVEL “SANDRO FROM CHEGEM” BY FAZIL' ISKANDER

Abstract

The article is devoted to the reflection of the national custom “feud” in the novel “Sandro from Chegem” by Fazil’ Iskander. The author analyzes three chapters of the novel – “Shepherd Mahaz”, “Uncle Sandro and Slave Hazarat” and “Uncle Sandro at Home”, – which most vividly describe the cases of feud. The sequence of these chapters reveals, how this custom was altering over time. The author traces Iskander’s position on feud perpetration, studies some cases of its manifestation, the individual features of each case and the ways of conflict settlement without bloodshed.
