LANGUAGE POLICY OF THE USA AS IT SHOULD BE

Abstract

The author tells that not all states include the provision of state (official) language in their constitutions, mentions that there is no state language policy in the USA, and English is the official language of the USA de facto due to overall ideological attitude, analyzes the language policy of the U.S. Department of Defense, which aim is to train military specialists who speak foreign languages, and in conclusion states the principles which, in the opinion of many scientists, should be the basis of the U.S. language policy.
