“CHARLES AND VILCOURT” OF J. DROMGOLD: ATTEMPT OF DIDACTIC IDYLL OF ENLIGHTENMENT

Abstract

The author analyzes the didactic idyll of the age of Enlightenment - genre modification that was not spread because of the stability of pastoral traditional genre features and reader’s genre expectations: topical content mismatched with the image of idyllic world, which, on the one hand, attracted the reader by its chronotopic detachment (from the problems of the contemporaneity and the centers of their origin - cities), and on the other hand - from the difficulties of rural life itself, creating the illusion of “sanctuary of the soul”.
