ON PROBLEM STUDY OF TOLSTOI’S CONNECTION WITH THE EAST
Abstract
The author discusses the origins of problem of L. Tolstoi’s connection with the East. The ideas of Eastern philosophy helped Tolstoi form his religion of love, which represented the human ancestral essence. The use of the Eastern folklore in the works “A Calendar of Wisdom”, “The Way of Life”, “Wise Thoughts for Every day” shows great writer’s respect to all of the peoples of China, India, Iran and other countries of the East. Tolstoi’s worldview formation was actually influenced by the doctrines of the ancient East thinkers: philosopher Lao Tzu, Confucius, Mo Dee, and the Persian thinkers Ferdowsi, Saadi and Hafiz.
