FEATURES OF EVENT ADVERBIAL MODIFICATION IN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE

Abstract

The article considers the question of event modification by adverbs of manner. Its stages are revealed in linguistics with comprehensive consideration of the event denoted by a verb, and it is important in the analysis of an adverbial modification process. The author defines the types of adverbial modification revealed in the course of a cognitive-semantic analysis, which allows taking into account not only a verb and adverb, but other participants of the event and estimating their impact on the modification. The article also gives the examples of various functioning of identical adverbial modifiers in combination with different verbs.
