GENDER AND COMMUNICATIVE STYLE IN ENGLISH-SPEAKING SOCIETY

Abstract

The article is devoted to the theory of intergroup relations and social changes that are manifested in the features of verbal behaviour of men and women. Different ways of higher social status achievement by subordinate group members, as well as common stereotypes of masculinity, by which means men are socialized, are considered. Attention is paid to the fact that the cooperative communicative style, typical of women, is more functional in comparison with the competitive style inherent to men.
