IMAGE OF AMERICA IN MICHAEL CHABON’S NOVELS

Abstract

The article deals with the image of America as it is presented in the novels by M. Chabon, one of the most famous contemporary American authors. The author of the article focuses her attention on the writer’ three main works – The Mysteries of Pittsburgh, The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay and The Yiddish Policemen’s Union, where the image of America at the end of the XX th – the beginning of the 21 st century is shown with the help of satire. Using postmodernistic devices the writer plays with national stereotypes and the phenomena of mass culture.
