UNFAMILIAR HAGIOGRAPHY OF ST. JOHN CHRYSOSTOM OF THE X CENTURY

Abstract

The article considers an unfamiliar monument of Byzantine hagiography of the middle of the X century “A Hagiography of St. John Chrysostom” of an anonymous author. This hagiography is of great interest both in its content and literary qualities and in the impact which it made on the further development of hagiography of the bishop of Constantinople John Chrysostom. The paper pays special attention to the analysis of historical and literary peculiarities of the hagiography and its place in the hagiographical tradition of John Chrysostom.
