REPRESENTATION OF MUSICAL ATMOSPHERE OF JAZZ IN THE NOVEL BY T. MORRISON "JAZZ" BY MEANS OF VERBAL MUSIC

Abstract

The article considers and analyzes certain methods of using verbal music in the novel by Toni Morrison "Jazz". In particular, use of terminological vocabulary of jazz music and also figurative - narrative methods for simulating the prosodic colouring and improvisational structure typical of jazz compositions. By means of verbal music the writer manage to reveal and efficiently use the artistic qualities of a language in a multidimensional literary and esthetic representation. Due to intermedious inclusions the text of the novel expands the prospects of interpretation appealing mostly to the emotional, intuitive perception; hence originate the backgrounds for experiments with a form.
