REPRESENTATION OF EVIDENTIAL MEANINGS BY THE PAST SIMPLE TENSE FORM IN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE

Abstract

The article is devoted to investigating the representation of evidential meaning by the Past Simple tense form in the English language. The authors investigate the specifics of functioning of this form under representation of the situation of informing and the situation of the reported event, also considering the preferential compatibility in the poly-predicative complexes.
