THE PECULIARITIES OF THE SCRIPTURE TEXT FUNCTIONING IN THE EPISTLE OF THE BISHOP OF VLADIMIR AND SUZDAL SIMON TO THE MONK OF THE CAVES POLYCARPUS

Abstract

The article is a research of "The Epistle of the Humble Bishop of Vladimir and Suzdal Simon to Polycarpus, The Monk of the Caves" which is a part of the Kiev-Pechersky patericon with a perspective of the Scripture text functioning in it. The quotations from the Bible and the allusions to the Holy Scriptures fill literally the texts of the epistle becoming its framework. Each appeal to his addressee the bishop Simon confirms by the reference to the appropriate text of the Old and New Testament giving his words authority and convincing Polycarpus in his rightness.
