LIFE AFTER DEATH IN THE CANTOS XXI - XXX BY E. POUND: POETICS AND PROBLEMS

Abstract

The article presents an analysis of one of the parts of the poem “The Cantos” (XXI-XXX) by an American poet E. Pound (1885-1972). The author identifies and systematizes the basic aspects of the problems and poetics which serve to reveal the theme of posthumous existence, important for the poem on the whole, but at this stage considered by Pound from a new perspective. Besides, for the first time in the domestic literary criticism the paper focuses on certain aspects of lyrical composition of a cycle: the researcher argues for the idea of its special role in the interpretation of all the key images and motives of these cantos.
