LINGUISTIC PROBLEMS AND TEXTUAL STRATEGY IN THE NOVEL BY UMBERTO ECO “BAUDOLINO”
Abstract
The article examines the novel by Umberto Eco “Baudolino” from the viewpoint of the represented linguistic problems. The paper aims to show how the medieval linguistic situation in Europe with its typical range of problems acquires a new function in the context of the novel “Baudolino”, deals with such modern conceptions as interpretation, open literary work, death of a subject. The author provides a detailed analysis of the linguistic characteristics of the first chapter in which medieval language is reconstructed, focuses on their role in the implementation of textual strategy.
