ARTISTIC TIME IN THE PLAYS OF THOMAS STEARNS ELIOT

Abstract

The article examines the concept of time in the plays of Thomas Stearns Eliot, the attention is focused on the structural composition of the plays from the standpoint of the correlation of time plans of movement. By the example of the dramas “The Confidential Clerk” and “The Family Reunion”, the tragedy “Murder in the Cathedral” and the comedy “The Cocktail Party” the multivariate models of the possible development of the characters’ images are examined. As part of the study the interconnection of the plays and poems by Eliot is traced in relation to the revealing the philosophical category of time.
