THE ROLE OF CEREMONIES IN KEEPING A CORPORATE SPIRIT IN THE AMERICAN UNIVERSITY DISCOURSE

Abstract

The article examines the problem of ritualization of everyday practices in the framework of the American University discursive space and functions of institutionalized ceremonies in keeping a corporate spirit of a University. The author focuses her attention on revealing the essence of the ceremony and studying various types of ceremonies, forming an ideological foundation for the Texas A&M University, College Station. On this basis the paper analyzes linguo-semiotic peculiarities of a social practice of «going to the football game».
