THE APPROACHES TO THE DISCOURSE ANALYSIS OF THE INTERNET

Abstract

In the article the description of some existing approaches to the analysis of the Internet and its discursive peculiarities is presented. The author gives an overview of several papers devoted to the main directions of research of the discursive specificity of the Net. The debatable problem of the virtuality and the reality of the Net is discussed. A number of constituting characteristics of the Internet discourse, which are able to identify the internal and external features of the Net discourse, are suggested. The internal backbone features include cognition process, interactivity and variability. These features allow us to consider the substantial and structural peculiarities of the Internet discourse, to reveal its lifelikeness, to single out the means of friendliness of the Internet to the user, to explain the multidimensionality of the network space and so on. The external features of the discursive system of the Net are sociological and psychological aspects which concern the connections between the system of the Net discourse and the reality.
