ON THE ISSUE OF THE ARTISTIC METHOD OF I. I. LAZHECHNIKOV’S DRAMA “OPRICHNIK”

Abstract

The article raises the question of the problem of the artistic method of I. I. Lazhechnikov’s drama “Oprichnik”. The author notes that in Lazhechnikov’s dramaturgy as well as in prose the process of transition from romanticism to realism has been reflected. The genre of historical drama, in which the features of two literary directions are combined, helps the writer to convey a new level of artistic searches. The paper gives examples of Lazhechnikov’s romantic attitudes, and also the peculiarities of the drama “Oprichnik”, which speak well for realistic tendencies.
