BIBLICAL AND MYTHOLOGICAL IMAGES IN THE NOVEL BY JACK KEROUAC “ON THE ROAD”

Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of Biblical and mythological images in the novel by Jack Kerouac “On the Road”. For the first time in domestic literary criticism the presence of these images in the work is analyzed. Their place and role in the structure of the book are determined. As a result of the analysis it is revealed that the plot, artistic space, images of the main characters and the theme of music are created on the basis of Biblical and mythological images. Exactly these images reveal the essence of voyages of the characters of the novel as searches for self-identification through searches for the God.
