SEMANTICS OF GERMAN VERBS OF SENSE OF SMELL

Abstract

Sense of smell plays a very important role in human life. The existing studies of German verbs of sense of smell do not give a complete description of the semantics of the corpus of this vocabulary. The article allows giving a comprehensive description of the semantic structure of the lexical units under consideration, identifying their semes, determining additional peculiarities, such as stylistic nuance. The research of the meanings of the verbs ​​was carried out using the method of the componential analysis of lexis, involving both paradigmatic and syntagmatic analyses, by singling out various semes.
