THE INTERRELATION OF THE SEMANTIC-SYNONYMIC AND ASSOCIATIVE FIELD UNITS (BY THE EXAMPLE OF THE ETHICAL CONCEPTS “ESTEEM” AND “POLITENESS”)
Abstract
The article provides the results of survey among the hearing-impaired and hearing teenagers aimed to identify the semantic-synonymic and associative fields of the ethical concepts “esteem” and “politeness”. The authors establish the relations between the lexical units of the mentioned fields and conclude that if in the mentioned fields of the ethical concepts “esteem” and “politeness” the identified units coincide then in the teenagers’ everyday consciousness these concepts substitute each other. Semantic-synonymic and associative fields are divided into areas according to the criterion of absence of uneven quantitative indexes between the ranked lexical units acquired during the experiment. The analysis indicates lexico-semantic similarities in the dominant areas and considerable differences while removing from the dominant area among the hearing and hearing-impaired teenagers. The proposed model-chart and bar charts allow tracing the unit similarities within the fields in the two respondent groups and analyzing the units’ uneven quantitative indexes within the areas and their similarities in both teenagers’ groups.
