TOPONYMY OF QUEBEC: LINGUISTIC-CULTUROLOGICAL ANALYSIS

Abstract

This article examines the main linguistic-culturological characteristics of modern Quebec toponymy. Toponymical vocabulary is one of the most topical subjects of research in various fields of scientific knowledge that reveals and/or confirms important processes taking place in the society. The purpose of this paper is to identify the basic cultural values ​​of the residents of the Canadian province of Quebec by means of the linguistic-culturological analysis. The conducted analysis is a step towards the reconstruction of the Quebecers’ linguistic worldview.
