SYMBOLISTS’ METRE-RHYTHMIC REPERTOIRE IN THE CONTEXT OF THE DYNAMIC DEVELOPMENT OF THE RUSSIAN VERSE

Abstract

On the basis of the statistical methods of prosody the article determines the role of symbolism in the reforming of the Russian versification of the XIX-XX centuries, analyzes numerous poetic techniques, transitional forms from accentual-syllabic to tonic, which resulted in the destruction of the monopoly of the classical system of versification in the Russian poetry and establishment of the polyphony of verse-metric forms, including the new declamatory-tonic versification system. The article concludes about the exceptional contribution of the Russian symbolism to the history of the Russian literature: the metre-rhythmic innovations led not only to the reform of the verse, but also to the synthesis of poetry and prose, poetry and music.
