REPRESENTATION OF LITERARY IMAGES IN THE CINEMA OR PECULIARITIES OF INTERSEMIOTIC TRANSLATION
Abstract
The article is devoted to the screening of literary works and the peculiarities of intersemiotic translation. The author determines the essence of intersemiotic translation that distinguishes it from other types of translation; differentiates images of literature and cinema, reveals the causes of screen versions popularity among directors and viewers, provides a classification of the types of screening, and gives examples of each of them. By the example of one of the novels, its translation and screening version the paper addresses the issue of the transmission of “speaking” surnames. Finally, the main criterion enabling to evaluate highly intersemiotic translation in general and screen adaptations in particular is given.
