METAPHOR AS ONE OF THE METHODS OF EXPRESSING THE INDIVIDUAL WORLDVIEW IN KURT VONNEGUT’S NOVEL “MOTHER NIGHT”

Abstract

In the article some points of view regarding the notion “linguistic worldview” are presented. On the basis of the analysis of different types of metaphors used in K. Vonnegut’s novel “Mother Night” their role in author’s individual worldview of the concepts LOVE and WAR is interpreted in a new way. It is concluded that metaphor is one of the ways for creating a linguistic worldview and it is proved that through the use of metaphors, typical for K. Vonnegut, a new world seen by his eyes is created.
