POEM “KESHE ASHAUCHYLAR” (“CANNIBALS”) BY MAJIT GAFURI IN THE CONTEXT OF THE DOMESTIC LITERATURE ABOUT HUNGER OF THE 1920S
Abstract
The article is devoted to the comparative analysis of the poems “Cannibals” by M. Gafuri and “The Twelve” by A. Blok. The author states that the Tatar poet follows the great predecessor; however, continuing and developing Blok’s thought, he firstly demonstrates that the revolution brought hunger and devastation to the people of the country, and secondly, he does not romanticize the October revolution. The “village” represented in M. Gafuri’s poem personifies the starving country, the people, distraught with hunger. The key topic of hunger in the poem reaches global, apocalyptic scale.
