ARGUMENTATION AND MANIPULATION AS TOOLS FOR SOLVING CONFLICT SITUATIONS IN THE ENGLISH EXISTENTIAL DISCOURSE

Abstract

This article analyzes communication from the point of view of the presence of conflict situations in it. Particular attention is paid to the ways of conflicts arrangement, which allow transforming a discourse of differences into a discourse of reconciliation, even with initial differences in the intentions of speakers. The main tools for influencing the addressee are argumentation and manipulation, which in case of proper and appropriate use can not only smooth the conflict, but also reach the addresser’s goal.
