Abstract

The article is devoted to studying “Guirlande de Julie”, the significant monument of courteous French literature and material culture created in marquise de Rambouillet’s “Blue salon”. The paper also analyzes masculine and feminine behaviour styles cultivated in aristocratic society. Salon anthropological ideal realized in everyday behaviour of aristocratic stratum representatives and in a number of literary texts was based on propagation of woman’s chastity and devaluation of the traditional masculine values. Complicated configuration of noble amorous rituals adopted in the XVII and XVIII centuries became one of the attributes of “high culture”. According to Ch. Montesquieu, it was inspired by the political system established in the country.
