THE PERFECT TOPOS AND ITS SYMBOLS IN K. D. BALMONT’S POETRY (ON ONE POEM)

Abstract

This article is a research of the folklore and mythological foundations of the shallop image, which is associated with the notions of an ideal place, topos. The object of the study is the early poem by K. Balmont «Челн томленья» (“Shallop of Languor”), where the poet is playing the image of the shallop and the mythologem of the way. The representations about a wonderful ship, boat, shallop make the researchers refer to the traditions of Russian and world folklore, with which K. D. Balmont was well acquainted. The poet studied folklore, he was interested in the works of A. N. Afanasyev; the archetype of the ship / shallop held a special place among the poet’s folklore images. The folklorism of Balmont’s creative work is of a latent character.
