ONYMS FUNCTIONING IN WORD-FORMATION PROCESSES OF THE MODERN GERMAN LANGUAGE AND THEIR PLAYING NATURE

Abstract

The article deals with onyms functioning in the word-formation processes of the modern German spoken language. The inventory of the onomastic material selected by the method of continuous sampling from three modern German dictionaries allows us to conclude that onyms participate in all the word-forming processes, without exception, - word-building, conversion from one part of speech to another, suffixation, prefixation, contamination and deonymization. The most numerous group consists of deonyms, which contain the proper names of well-known politicians. It confirms the view that deonymization is a socially and culturally determined word-formation model.
