“LANDSCAPE OF THE SOUL” THROUGH THE COLOURS OF THE WORLD: COLOUR TERM SEMANTICS IN JUAN RAMÓN JIMÉNEZ’S CREATIVE WORK

Abstract

The article provides the linguo-stylistic analysis of the author’s own interpretation of colour term semantics in the poetical texts of the Spanish modernist poet Juan Ramón Jiménez, which harmoniously combine objective and subjective, real and symbolic, the basics of modernist aesthetics and the search for “new poetry”. The paper identifies the stylistic role of colour terms to express the ideological content of a poetical text. The author’s own interpretation of colour terms, which does not correlate with the national colour symbolism, helps to enrich poetical images, to exert synesthetic influence on the audience, to reveal the subtext.
